Sea Containers London: The Stylish, Family-Friendly 5-Star Hotel On London’s South Bank We Can’t Get Enough Of.
Sea Containers London is a chic and luxurious hotel located along the River Thames, offering a blend of sophistication, design, and glamour. The hotel’s nautical-inspired aesthetic is reflected in its copper-clad lobby, swanky rooms with stunning Thames views, and trendy restaurant. This boutique hotel provides an unforgettable experience for the whole family, all while being at the heart of London’s cultural scene.
We recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Sea Containers hotel, and we were blown away not only by the stunning views and design but also by the incredible service provided and how family-friendly the whole hotel is, restaurant and all! Yes it has an urban spa, offers world-class dining at the Sea Containers Restaurant, and there is even a cosy Curzon Cinema screening room, but what makes it a must-stay hotel for families, is how kids are free to roam around and (literally) run the hallways, adding to the hotel’s vibrant atmosphere. We tell you why this is our new favourite family-friendly hotel, and why you should book your next London getaway here.

STAY: Sea Containers London
WHERE: South Bank
We recently stayed at The Sea Containers London hotel, a stylish 5-star award-winning hotel situated along the Thames, offering stunning views of the river and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Its location near London landmarks like the Tate Modern and Southbank Centre, makes it the perfect place for families to explore London. Housed in a striking 1970s building, the Sea Containers London is a stylish and modern hotel that blends chic design with a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, all the while feeling like a swanky boutique hotel. The interior, designed by Tom Dixon, evokes a nautical theme with a contemporary twist, featuring striking art pieces, beautiful lighting, luxurious materials, and bold colours. The hotel is particularly family-friendly, with plenty of amenities and services tailored to children, making it a perfect choice for families. We were surprised with a lovely organic baby care set in the room, as well as a sweet teddy bear and a fun explorer passport for our toddler. From child-friendly menus to spacious family rooms, the Sea Containers London really does welcome guests of all ages.
I especially loved the gorgeous scent inside the hotel and the mood lighting; it felt very luxurious and relaxing, exactly what you want from a mini getaway! With an incredibly friendly and helpful staff, an excellent location just steps away from family-friendly activities, and luxurious interiors and comfort, it’s a must-stay hotel for families.
THE ROOMS
The rooms are spacious and chic, with floor-to-ceiling windows that maximise natural light and offer impressive views of London. Our room had an incredible view of St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Thames, which was even more incredible at night time. Our toddler loved looking out the window and waving at boats passing by while we enjoyed a glass of Champagne and listened to music via the built-in speakers, the ideal way to relax after a busy day of walking and exploring the city. The super king-sized bed was extremely comfortable and soft, and we were provided with a cosy cot for the little one, filled with an adorable teddy bear and a box filled with organic baby care and wash products, such a nice touch. The bathroom was spacious and very spa-like, with beautiful marble throughout, a rainfall shower and supplied with toiletries by MALIN + GOETZ.
THE SEA CONTAINERS RESTAURANT
We decided to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, aptly named the Sea Containers, because eating out with a toddler is never an easy task and we wanted to be close to the room if we needed to make a quick exit, but to our surprise, dinner could not have gone any better mainly due to the super helpful staff, and the delicious food. The Sea Containers Restaurant serves a creative menu with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and the ambience of the restaurant is sophisticated and trendy, with gorgeous mood lighting, cool decor and incredible river views. The middle of the restaurant has a large vessel-like bar area, which looked amazing but was also perfect for our little one to run around. We got the Devon Crab On Toast and Seabass Ceviche Tacos to start, both incredible. And a SeaCo Cheeseburger for a main, as well as the Surrey Farm Ribeye which was both delicious and cooked to perfection. I also recommend the Baked New York Cheesecake with cranberries and orange for dessert. The restaurant also has an excellent menu for children, with plenty of options to suit even the pickiest eaters. Our toddler had the Four Cheese Mac & Cheese, which to our delight was a hit.
We came back to the restaurant for breakfast the next morning, again enjoying the lovely views of the river. Again, delicious food and it was incredibly handy that it had a buffet breakfast option with various fruit and yoghurts, perfect for little ones.
